How Steve Jobs Made The World Bite the Apple
Did you know before Apple became a mega company, it went through a downward spiral and was on the verge of bankruptcy? Steve Jobs during his comeback said: “The cure for Apple is not cost-cutting; the cure for Apple is to innovate its way out of its current predicament.”
Here are the innovation secrets of Steve Jobs:
Secret 1: Do what you love
Passion fuels innovation. You cannot generate great and innovative ideas unless you’re really passionate about them. Jobs advised: “Go out and a get a job as a busboy or something until you find something you're really passionate about.”
Secret 2: Have a world changing vision… And stick to it.
While passion fuels a person, it is vision that directs them to their ultimate destination. Jobs stood firm with his vision to “…build computers for people, not for corporations,” even when industry experts doubted him.
Secret 3: Cultivate an attitude of curiosity in all things.
Jobs always had a knack for learning and exploring. His curiosity led him to dream bigger, excel in what he was doing and become better at it. “Much of what I stumbled into by following my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on.”
Secret 4: Don’t be afraid of failure. Learn from it and move on.
Despite his many successes, Steve Jobs was never exempt from failure. He was ousted from the very company he co-founded. In spite of his failures, Jobs did not allow them to get the best of him. He knew that failures, when handled correctly, can be stepping stones to success.
“Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice,” Jobs once said. “And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.”
